Olympia Land Estate-Ancient olympia

The Location of Olympia Land Estate

Olympia Land Estate Winery is located in the charming village of Koskina. Specifically, it stands just a few kilometers from the heart of Ancient Olympia. Indeed, our winery is built on the exact site where our ancestors began cultivating raisins and olive trees 150 years ago. In this way, they laid the foundation for our rich agricultural tradition.

Our Family Tradition and Vision

Currently, Olympia Land Estate operates as a family-owned winery. In the beginning, we started producing small batches of high-quality wines during the early 2000s. Furthermore, we established a modern, state-of-the-art facility in 2008 to continue our production. Therefore, we proudly follow our family’s heritage in this blessed and sacred place.

Inspired by Ancient History

Moreover, we feel inspired by the ancient practices of this region. For instance, we honor the history of Ancient Greeks who crafted wine and hosted famous symposiums. Consequently, we continue to produce premium wines that reflect the spirit and traditions of the area. Finally, our goal is to share this unique history with every wine lover who visits us.

THE VINEYARD

The History of Our Vineyard

The history of the Olympia Land Estate Vineyard dates back to 1985. At that time, our family revived a 35-acre vineyard in Koskina, near Ancient Olympia. Initially, we primarily planted indigenous varieties like Moschofilero and Roditis.

For generations, the Liarommati family practiced traditional winemaking methods. For example, we used the unique technique of pressing grapes by foot. Furthermore, the harvest season was always a festive occasion for the whole family. Specifically, the women would dance in large stone winepresses to crush the grapes. Afterwards, we collected the fresh juice in wooden barrels.

Vineyard Expansion and Varieties

Today, our vineyard has expanded significantly to 100 acres. Notably, the Kladeos River flows through the heart of the estate. Moreover, the vineyard is now home to a diverse range of grape varieties.

Regarding our white grapes, we cultivate local varieties such as Asyrtiko and Malagousia. In addition, we grow prestigious red varieties like Agiorgitiko and Avgoustiatis. Finally, our collection includes international favorites such as Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah.

Microclimate and Terroir

Located at an altitude of 120 meters, the vineyard benefits from a special microclimate. Therefore, this natural protection shields our vines from extreme weather conditions. Consequently, we ensure a consistent and high-quality wine production every single year.
